Courtney Bowman has been working in the data science and analytics space for over a decade. Bowman spent several years at Google working on quantitative analytics, auction design, and pricing strategy, where he developed a strong understanding of the intricacies of data analytics algorithmic implementation and the attendant privacy challenges. Drawing on that practical background and an appreciation of the need for value-oriented approaches to systems architecture and design in order to ensure privacy protections, Bowman joined Palantir Technologies in 2010 to lead its in-house Privacy and Civil Liberties Engineering team.

Bowman works extensively with government, commercial, and philanthropic partners to develop technology-driven solutions to enable information sharing and inter-organizational cooperation in a manner that respects applicable privacy, security, and data protection requirements. Bowman also works extensively with policy makers, privacy advocates, academics, and other industry representatives to explore privacy and data protection challenges on the horizon and ensure that the broader concerns from the community are addressed in the design and implementation of data analytics technology.

Bowman is co-author of the recently released The Architecture of Privacy, which provides a multidisciplinary framework for designing and building privacy-protective information systems.

Bowman has earned degrees in Physics and Philosophy at Stanford University.
