Angus Burns has over 26 years of experience in the environmental sector, 11 of which have been with WWF-SA as the Senior Manager for their Land and Biodiversity Stewardship Portfolio. Angus and his team have been responsible for the expansion of South Africa’s protected area network and was behind the establishment of SA’s first protected environments in 3 provinces. He has also been the recipient of both the Cheetah and Owl awards for environmental excellence from partner environmental NGO’s. Angus serves on various international and local working, advisory and technical groups aimed at advancing the impacts of WWF’s work at scale for both people and the environment.
Besides his work with WWF, Angus is an experienced photographer having been published in numerous scientific journals, printed, televised and online media; and has also been featured in various exhibitions (both local and international). Of particular interest to him is the technically difficult sphere of Astrophotography resulting in his images being used for Nightfall Magazine, The ASSA annual sky-guides and Celestron South Africa/International.
