Amanda has held several positions in insurance, reinsurance, consulting, investment banking and academia, across Europe, America and South Africa. She has also been a lecturer at Oxford University in the area of financial mathematics and derivatives.
Amanda held Managing Director roles at two of the big-four accounting and advisory firms where she contributed to finance transformation, M&A, strategy development and hedging of capital market risks. Whilst in direct insurance, Amanda's roles have included Risk Officer, Head of Profitability for the International Business, CFO for Retirement Income Solutions and Head of Business Optimization for a large Canadian L&H insurer.
Whilst at Swiss Re, Amanda has led the Life & Health Product Hub for the EMEA region, with responsibility for the costing and underwriting functions that support execution of core, solutions and transactions within the region. She has contributed to sustainable growth within the mature countries of the EMEA region and facilitated growth within the emerging regions. Amanda has successfully developed product innovations, supported risk transfer transactions and driven commercial behaviour within the business.
Amanda is currently responsible for the development and delivery of global solutions within the life and health business at Swiss Re. Driving the coordination of the global expertise within the company to solve complex client problems and deliver agile and commercial solutions. The role leverages Amanda's technical skills together with her agility, commercialism and persuasiveness. She is passionate about Swiss Re's vision of making the world more resilient by offering relevant, accessible and sustainable solutions for clients.
Amanda is a qualified actuary on three continents and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Actuarial Science, Mathematics and Statistics, a Masters in Derivative Pricing and a PhD in International Finance, with a thesis in neuroscience and leadership, which is a particular interest of Amanda's.
Amanda is currently based in the UK, having also worked and lived in South Africa and the USA.
