More people around the world are becoming aware of natural disaster risk: 68% of the respondents to the Swiss Re Risk perception survey expect to live with more extreme natural disasters; half fear damage from a flood, storm, earthquake or wildfire.
How well communities cope with natural disasters depends on how well they recover: that's what urban resilience is about. Swiss Re is at the forefront of shoring up resilience, from providing expert input for New York City's Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliency to mitigating earthquake risk in Latin America.
