Mexico Quarterly Update – May 2019
Article information and share options
Mexico's economic growth halted in 1Q19 owing to external and internal short-term disruptions. A more moderate pace of policy tightening by the Federal Reserve is helping tame financial volatility. Public policy uncertainty is still a source of risk aversion and the trade/investment outlook remains open-ended. Life insurance is growing robustly while non-life is moderating. Underwriting margins have improved; profitability however, decreased due to a contraction in investment returns.
