Daniel Staib joined Swiss Re in 2006. He is the author of the annual world insurance sigma series and has authored several other publications, including "Insurance in the emerging markets: overview and prospects for Islamic insurance" and "Insurance in sub-Saharan Africa: growth stutters, but fundamentals are strong." He leads Swiss Re Institute's activities in developing a database on the global re/insurance markets. He analyses the insurance and reinsurance markets and the macroeconomic environment in emerging markets with a focus on Africa.
Daniel started his career in 1999 at the Technical University of Zurich's Centre for Research of Economic Activity where he explored Switzerland's competitiveness and innovation activities in the Swiss business sector. Subsequently, he worked for five years at the renowned Swiss think tank Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute (GDI) in Rüschlikon where he published reports on innovation activities in the retail sector, societal trends and their impact on consumer behaviour.
Daniel holds a degree in economics from the University of Zürich, Switzerland.
