Florian Rechfeld is a senior research analyst in the Life & Behaviour R&D department of Swiss Re and located in the Zurich headquarter. Joining Swiss Re in 2011 his work covers different aspects of life insurance, including medical research towards the development and modification of underwriting and risk assessment guidelines, providing expertise on mortality and morbidity issues as well as supporting product development and pricing for advanced life and health products. Furthermore, his research interests span many aspects of new drug discovery and development, advances in human genome sequencing and genetic testing, clinical and translational research and the future impact of personalised medicine on healthcare.
Prior to joining Swiss Re in 2011, Mr Rechfeld was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Infectious Diseases and Oncology at the University Children Hospital in Zurich. His research aimed at improvements in childhood cancer diagnosis and identification and validation of novel molecular targets for drug development. He studied biochemistry and molecular biology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland and received a PhD from the Institute of Medical Biochemistry at the Innsbruck Medical University in Austria.
