Mael joined Swiss Re as Agriculture Reinsurance Underwriter for China market in August 2013. He is now Head of Agriculture for Asia, leading the company's fast growing agricultural reinsurance business in the region.
Mael led the effort of Swiss Re to provide the first anti-poverty government insurance contract against natural catastrophe risks in China in 2016. The contract supported the Heilongjiang provincial government to protect farmers of 28 poverty counties. In addition, Mael led his teams to tailor the global experience and expertise of Swiss Re to the specific need in China. Applying new technologies and developing innovative solutions, his teams play an active role in supporting the agricultural insurance development in China.
Before joining Swiss Re, Mael was a reinsurance treaty underwriter in XLCatlin, Lloyd`s biggest syndicate, and also worked for Sompo Japan Insurance Company China.
