Dame Inga Beale is a British businesswoman and was, up to recently, the CEO of Lloyd’s of London – the 330-year-old (re)insurance market. With over three decades of global experience in financial services she was awarded her damehood for services to the UK economy in 2017.
During her five year tenure at Lloyd’s, Dame Inga was responsible for digitalising the insurance market, embedding an innovation culture with the opening of the Lloyd’s Innovation Lab, and expanding the market’s access across new, high-growth markets including China, Dubai, and India. As the first female CEO of Lloyd’s, she played a critical role in advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives across the global insurance sector.
Before joining Lloyd’s, she was Group CEO of Canopius with its principal operations at Lloyd's. Prior to that she was on the Global Management Board of Zurich Insurance. Earlier roles include Group CEO of Swiss reinsurer Converium, and a variety of international leadership positions for GE. Inga started her career as an underwriter with Prudential in London.
She has served on numerous boards over the years and is currently a member of the London First and UK Chartered Insurance Institute Boards, and the London Mayor’s Business Advisory Board.
