EEAG report 2017: Populism and economic policy
In 2016 Brexit and the election of Donald Trump to the US presidency signalled a new wave of populism and the upcoming elections in France and Germany are expected to be dominated by populist rhetoric. Economic crises, worldwide recession and debt in the Eurozone inevitably prompt a debate about the failure of ruling elites.
In this climate, the Swiss Re Institute hosted leading experts from the European Economic Advisory Grop at the Swiss Re Centre for Global Dialogue, to discuss the issues.
