Swiss Re included in the 2020 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index

For the second year in a row, Swiss Re is rewarded for its commitment to and transparency on gender equality.

The Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) consists of over 325 firms in 42 countries across 11 sectors that have demonstrated a commitment to equality and advancing women in the workplace. As investors increasingly focus on companies' take on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues and explicitly require companies in their portfolios to enhance disclosure, the GEI index provides greater transparency in this space and helps investors assess companies' ESG approaches. For Swiss Re, being included in the GEI underscores the company's strong commitment to gender related topics and represents an opportunity to potentially attract new ESG focused investors.

Swiss Re was included in the GEI after providing internal statistics as well as extensive information on the policies, practices and goals we've set in relation to gender equality. The topics analysed include eg. female leadership & talent pipeline, equal pay & gender pay parity, inclusive culture and sexual harassment policies.

Research shows that gender-equal policies and practices can positively impact a company's decision-making, ability to attract and retain talent and financial performance. Although a diverse, inclusive and meritocratic workplace is core to Swiss Re's beliefs, we recognise that women continue to be underrepresented in our executive and senior management and are committed to actively improve on the situation. The results of the GEI assessment will help demonstrate our commitment to gender equality and support us in focusing on the right actions for the future.
