Swiss Re Africa Limited has achieved a Level 1 B-BBEE status

The Level 1 B-BBEE status is a testimony of our commitment towards inclusion and diversity in our business and for our people. It also reflects our enduring efforts to promote the economic participation of Black People in the South African economy.

Against a worldwide background of rapid social and environmental change, our mission is to actively strive to mitigate social and humanitarian problems within South Africa. We aim to promote social responsibility through various grants to support efforts to redress social and economic imbalances within South Africa with a focus on previously disadvantaged communities. 

We focus on promoting social integration, education and professional enablement programmes

The team of Swiss Re Africa has a long history of prioritizing the socio-economic development of the South African people and their local communities in the way we conduct business. We have supported entrepreneurship and the private initiative by integrating various SMEs in our business supply chain, supporting them in their development journey into business maturity. These efforts have become deeply embedded in our corporate DNA, and we're proud of the increasing engagement our team has demonstrated over the years in promoting social integration, education and professional enablement programmes across less endowed communities.

Transformation happens through education

We believe transformation happens through education. Therefore all our CSI (Corporate Responsibility Investment) partners are education-focused. One of them is Partners for Possibility whose mission is to improve the quality of education in South Africa by coaching school principals from under-resourced schools and enhancing their leadership skills through partnerships with business leaders. Another such partner is Community Cohesion with their holistic  "One-School-at-a-Time" programme. They work with social needs of the pupils, teachers and caregivers enabling the teachers to focus on teaching.

Companies that conduct business with us are entitled to claim 135% of their reinsurance spend under their own Preferential Procurement scorecard.
