Transparency in ILS

Swiss Re is committed to furthering transparency in the insurance-linked securities market and has fostered this transparency through various initiatives both at the market and at the deal level.

European market loss index

In early 2009, Swiss Re, along with seven other shareholders, announced the development of PERILS AG, a legal entity that will aggregate independent and robust industry estimates of European natural catastrophe exposures and post-events loss amounts.  Over time, these industry estimates will form a key component in further facilitating capital market capacity.

Document standardisation

Swiss Re also developed the SNaCS/ISDA initiative in order to standardize documents for CAT swaps and create a more transparent, easier to trade instrument.

Swiss Re Cat Bond Indices

Since introducing the Swiss Re Cat Bond Performance Indices (“SRCBI”) in mid-2007, the SRCBI has become a key performance benchmark for the investor community. As the insurance-linked securities market continues to evolve, Swiss Re will continue to develop the SRCBI.

Insuring the future for Europe:...

The priorities set by the European Commission reinforce Swiss Re's view on how the insurance industry can help insure the future for Europe.
