Walter B. Kielholz named EFR chairman

The Members of the European Financial Services Round Table (EFR) have elected Walter B. Kielholz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swiss Re, as new Chairman of the EFR.

The European Financial Services Round Table (EFR) is a group of business leaders of European financial institutions who seek to further develop and strengthen a competitive European financial services industry.

Members of the EFR are Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of international banks or insurers with headquarters in Europe, including AXA, Allianz, BNP Paribas, ING, Credit Suisse, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Generali, BBVA, RBS, Aviva, Nordea, Banco Santander, Crédit Agricole, ZFS, UniCredit Group and Aegon. Jan Hommen, Chairman of the Executive Board of ING Group, has been elected EFR’s new Vice-Chairman.

Over the last years, the EFR has been engaged in the lessons to be drawn from the financial crisis to render the European financial system more resilient. The EFR also deals with the global G20 agenda, regulation and supervision, consumer protection and pensions. The EFR publishes position papers, reports and press releases on a wide range of topics such as European retail market, G20 agenda, the integration of pensions in Europe, harmonisation of regulation and supervision and consumer protection.
