The Clean Revolution goes digital with Swiss Re on 5 June live Twitter Q&A

Ahead of the Rio+20 Earth Summit, the Climate Group and Swiss Re took the Clean Revolution campaign to the world of social media. And we invited audiences worldwide to participate. Swiss Re’s David Bresch and Andreas Spiegel held a live Twitter Q&A on 5 June on climate adaptation in emerging markets – discussing what it means to countries, industries and communities.

Climate change poses one of the biggest threats to humanity. Floods, storms, drought and other natural disasters already affect societies around the world. And these risks will increase as global temperatures continue to rise. Climate adaptation is therefore an urgent priority. This is especially true for the developing world where the impact of climate change is felt most severely.

As a market leader in re/insurance solutions, Swiss Re partners with businesses, governments and civil society to strengthen the resilience of local communities and protect them against the risks in a changing climate.

In the run up to the Rio+20 Earth Summit, Swiss Re’s David Bresch, Head Sustainability and Political Risk Management, and Andreas Spiegel, Senior Climate Change Adviser, went live on Twitter to answer questions on climate adaptation and how we as a global re/insurer help to promote climate-resilient development around the world.

The live Twitter session took place Tuesday, 5 June from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. CET (11:00 to 12:00  GMT). It forms part of The Climate Group’s outreach campaign Clean Revolution and aims to mobilize leadership on topics in focus at the upcoming Rio+20 Earth Summit.

To participate in this event, users logged on to Twitter and addressed questions to @DavidBresch and @AndreasSpiegel1 or to @ClimateGroup using the hashtag #CleanRevolution.
