Jason Richards appointed Head Casualty Reinsurance. Nicola Parton to become Head P&C Business Management. James Shepherd appointed Head L&H Business Management.

Zurich, 31 October 2017 – Jason Richards will become Head Casualty Reinsurance starting 1 November 2017, and Nicola Parton, currently Head Primary Lead Strategy & Client Engagement for Corporate Solutions, will be Jason's successor. Nicola’s appointment is effective December 1. James Shepherd was appointed Head Life & Health Business Management with effect from 1 October 2017.

Jason Richards has spent 23 years at Swiss Re (including 11 years at GE Insurance Solutions prior to the merger) in functions touching many aspects of reinsurance. In his current role as Head P&C Business Management, he has developed a strong knowledge of core P&C inforce portfolio from a claims, reserving and retro operations perspective and has been heavily involved in large P&C transactions. He is passionate about the technological developments that enable Swiss Re to provide new solutions for clients having led the FinTech initiative for Swiss Re's reinsurance business.

Jason graduated from the University of Bath in 1992 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He will remain a member of Swiss Re's Reinsurance Management Team reporting into CEO Reinsurance, Moses Ojeisekhoba and will continue to be based in Copenhagen.

Nicola Parton has more than 20 years of experience in the re/insurance industry. Before leading the implementation of the Primary Lead strategy, Nicola served in various claims leadership roles, including Head of Corporate Solutions Claims. During her time at Corporate Solutions, Nicola also led a number of business initiatives to support client retention and portfolio management strategies. She also led the development of the Claims Commitment, an industry-leading claims service approach now viewed as a differentiator in the market. Nicola will become a member of the Reinsurance Management Team reporting into Moses Ojeisekhoba and will continue to be based in London.

Nicola graduated with honors from the University of Auckland in 1996 and is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court in New Zealand. She practiced law in New Zealand and, upon relocating, joined a London law firm focusing on insurance before joining Swiss Re in 2003.

James Shepherd is responsible for managing Swiss Re's inforce portfolio of Life & Health reinsurance business. This includes claims management, technical accounting, portfolio management, run-off, auditing, reinsurance operations and reserving. James has built up a wealth of experience in the industry having started his reinsurance career in 1987 with Victory Re. He joined Swiss Re in 2006 with the GE acquisition, having been part of the GE Global L&H Executive team. After 10 years as a Swiss Re client manager and underwriter in multiple markets, he moved through roles in technology, business services, contracts, technical accounting claims operations and project management, before becoming Chief Operating Officer of the Reinsurance business in 2011.

James is a British citizen, living in Zürich and holds qualifications with the Chartered Insurance Institute and Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK. He continues as a member of the Reinsurance Management Team, reporting into Moses Ojeisekhoba.
