Environmental management systems and environmental impairment liability insurance
This publication is based on the Swiss Re client seminar "Environmental Management Systems (EMS): ISO 14000 Series and beyond" which was held in Zurich in May 1998.
The participants – who consisted of representatives from both client companies and Swiss Re's own casualty underwriters and account managers – gathered to foster dialogue among academics, representatives from industry and the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
Their main focus was on the ISO standard 14000, an environmental management system that comprehensively identifies an enterprise's performance and efforts in environmental protection.
