Business interruption insurance
The new publication Business interruption insurance is based on a previous brochure on the same topic, originally published by Swiss Re in 1997.
In the line of fire business interruption insurance, little has changed since Swiss Re brought out that publication. What has changed in the interim, however, is the risk landscape - particularly as a result of increasing global interdependence and the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. The latter had a devastating impact on pecuniary loss insurance and raised questions that forced the insurance industry to reconsider its position.
The aim of the updated publication, then, is to provide guidance for enterprises and the insurance industry on how to deal effectively with the complex issue of business interruption - and to underline the importance of sophisticated risk analysis and risk management, of tailor-made product design and prudent underwriting for sound insurance solutions.
