Earthquakes in Switzerland
Although rare, earthquakes are the most threatening of natural perils in Switzerland.
Yet for the insurance industry, earthquakes in Switzerland were not insurable until recently. In the event of a catastrophe, the groups affected by the earthquakes – private individuals, companies and the government – once would have had to assume the lion’s share of the loss themselves. The authors argue that need no longer be the case.
