Event on vehicle insurance in Germany
On 25 July 2005, Swiss Re organised a media background talk on motor insurance in Germany. The briefing, in German, was hosted by Ludger Arnoldussen, Member of the Board of Management of Swiss Re Germany AG and other experts. Presentations from the main speakers are available for download below (in German).
Motor insurance accounts for about EUR 100 billion in premium volume, making it the main European non-life insurance line. Therein lies one reason why Swiss Re should monitor motor insurance closely. There is also another reason: Swiss Re Germany has, at 35% of its overall premium volume, the highest share of motor insurance premiums of any reinsurer. 1.2 million people die in traffic accidents every year, 50 million sustain serious injuries and property damage costs amount to USD 518 billion. That makes it a risk that urgently needs to be addressed.
