Sylvia Steinmann – Chief Information Officer, Financial Services
Since 2003, Sylvia has been Chief Information Officer of Swiss Re’s Financial Services (FS) and member of the Global IT Executive Team.
Based in Zurich, Sylvia is now responsible for defining the FS IT strategy, leading the functional management and managing the respective global project portfolio. She is also involved in a number of Global IT strategic initiatives.
Sylvia joined Swiss Re in 1997 and led the Swiss Re Group IT Strategy and Planning Department for three years before moving on to set up and manage the Group Business Solutions Department. Her responsibilities in this function included business process re-engineering and the implementation of various Swiss Re Group-wide business applications.
Prior to joining Swiss Re in 1997, Sylvia spent more than five years at McKinsey working in the financial services sector and IT services sector as a consultant. She has an MBA from the Technical University of Berlin and an MSc in Information Systems Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
