Bangalore – Analyst Corporate Actuarial Team

Reporting to the Assistant Vice-President, Corporate Actuarial Team Bangalore, your overall mandate would be to calculate all policy and claim reserves, both on US GAAP and local statutory bases, assist with pricing and reserve analysis and experience studies.

Principal Responsibilities for this position will include:

  • To accurately complete already defined modeling processes including the maintenance of modeling assumptions, assessment of data quality, running the models, validation of results, data interface to reporting systems and subsequent interface with business processes.
  • To prepare technical specs and test plans based on Business specs prepared by user.
  • To interface with businesses and determine nature of projects.
  • To make ongoing enhancements to models as needed.
  • To perform actuarial tasks of a mathematical and well defined process nature.
  • To compile and categorize data for experience analyses, pricing studies, or reserve analyses.
  • To assist in preparing pricing and reserving analyses at the direction of more senior actuarial staff.
  • To apply technical knowledge and process skills to solve problems and develop solutions, i.e. investigating data issues and reconciliation.
  • To make use of automation to simplify work processes. Question existing processes & suggest improvements.

Required profile :

Background -

  • Masters (preferably) degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or equivalent field.
  • 0 – 4 years work experience in the Insurance domain. Preferably Actuarial Department of an insurance company.
  • Actively working towards attainment of actuarial designation. Actuarial exams preferred. Minimum one CAS or IOAI (Institute of Actuaries of India) exam

Skills -

  • Excellent command over written and oral English.
  • Proficiency in working with Spreadsheet and Database packages.
  • Proficiency in Programming in VBA, C etc. Knowledge of statistical software like SAS, Matlab etc.
  • A team player and self-starter with positive attitude - able to work independently as well as on collaborative projects.
  • MUST be able to write technical specs and documentation.
  • Must be able to interpret business specs and ask clarifying questions.
  • Ability to work accurately and deliver to deadlines.
  • Strong data organization and analysis skills.
