New data sets available in CatNet

Swiss Re's worldwide natural hazards information and mapping system, CatNet, is available to our business partners free of charge and has now been extended to include new hazard data sets.

CatNet TM offers a comprehensive and clear overview of major natural perils and thus facilitates reliable catastrophe risk estimates for virtually any location worldwide. Its built-in search function makes it easy to select locations from a set of some 650,000 entries. The interactive atlas allows mapping of historical events and hazard intensities for earthquakes and tropical cyclones worldwide, floods in selected countries, windstorms in Europe and tornadoes in the US. CatNet also enables users to retrieve relevant cat insurance information and economic data for selected countries, and provides insurance loss information for named events and other recent and historical major catastrophes.

Latest additions to CatNet (view samples):

  • US hail map presenting the expected number of hail days per area/year
  • US tornado, visualizing the number of severe tornadoes per area/year
  • Detailed flood risk zones in Germany
