2007 Corporate Responsibility Report
Swiss Re is committed to sustainable value creation and has published a corresponding account in each year since 1997. The 2007 Corporate Responsibility Report provides an overview of the Group’s activities in corporate governance, corporate sustainability and corporate citizenship, which form the three pillars of Swiss Re’s Corporate Governance Framework. The Group’s efforts as a good employer and its risk dialogue activities are further focal points.
In the year under review, Swiss Re was able to record a number of significant achievements with regard to corporate responsibility.
These are described in detail in the report and include, for example: launch of the Climate Adaptation Development Programme, which strives to establish a market for innovative weather risk transfer instruments in developing countries; first full year of the COYou2 Reduce and Gain Programme, which grants subsidies to employees for emission-cutting investments in their private lives; achievement of greenhouse neutral status five years ahead of schedule, by substantially reducing CO2 emissions per employee since 2003 and offsetting the remaining emissions.
Beyond reviewing key achievements, Swiss Re’s newest Corporate Responsibility Report offers readers a more complete and rewarding reading experience than previous editions. It comprises a short profile of the Group, states the main corporate responsibility goals for next year and includes a content index in line with recommendations by the Global Reporting Initiative.
In addition, the report seeks to give an impression of what Swiss Re is all about, by showing some of its employees in typical situations they encounter as part of their work.
