Schweizer Jugend forscht
Founded in 1970, the non-profit foundation Schweizer Jugend forscht ("Swiss Youth in Science”) has evolved into a socially recognised national platform for the promotion of science among young people. Its main objective is to arouse the interest of young people in the sciences and inspire them to undertake their own research.
Schweizer Jugend forscht is keen to achieve an ongoing promotion of young talent; the foundation’s sponsorship programme thus rests upon three complementary pillars which offer opportunities directed at a target audience of 10 to 21-year-olds.
The study weeks aim to make children and young people aware of the sciences. Over the course of one week, participants are given the chance to take a look behind the scenes of universities and/or industrial organisations and conduct their own mini-research projects under the supervision of professionals.
The National Competition aims to inspire young people at upper secondary level to conduct their own research as well as to offer them expert assistance in doing so. Young students present their research project as part of an exhibition before a committee of experts. Prior to this they work in close cooperation with their own personal expert who provides them with valuable tips on how to improve their work.
The Swiss Talent Forum is a think tank for young adults who feel the need to address the global and long-term challenges which shape our present. Over the course of five days, 120 young people from Switzerland and abroad take part in various workshops, developing and drawing up new solutions to a socially relevant topic.
We attach great importance to expert knowledge and innovative ability. We are therefore committed to consistently promoting both the best talents and the cultivation of knowledge. Our success is based on sound know-how and comprehensive specialist knowledge, hence our obvious choice to support an instructive and future-oriented foundation that offers a national platform for fostering talent. As a socially committed company, Swiss Re strives to make an active contribution to younger generations.
