Miller’s Studio – Cabaret in the Mühle Tiefenbrunnen
Swiss Re is the main sponsor of Miller’s Studio. We have been supporting Miller’s Studio since 1992 and in particular, the international “Spektakuli” cabaret festival.
Today, Miller’s Studio is one of the leading venues for German-language cabaret in Switzerland. With around 140 performances a year and, in particular, the annual “Spektakuli” cabaret festival, Miller’s Studio is well known for making a significant contribution to the range of cultural events held in the city of Zurich. Cabaret and satire of the highest order, no simple stand-up comedy or slapstick humour, just good entertainment combined with tasty food. Top-class cabaret artists from throughout the German-speaking world make regular guest appearances at Miller’s Studio.
The “Spektakuli” cabaret festival has been organised by Miller’s Studio since 1994 and takes place in May of each year. The festival represents the highlight of every season, running for ten days, with around 12 artists performing two to three times each. Performances take place on two different stages at the same time. A large marquee in the courtyard of the Tiefenbrunnen mill – also a part of the tradition – provides the culinary element of the festival.
The aim is to present high-quality cabaret and satire in a concentrated format – in other words, good entertainment and an intellectual challenge. The festival lays claim to a large degree of exclusivity, as primarily demonstrated by the sheer number of Swiss premieres which take place there. This is just one of the reasons why “Spektakuli” has the reputation of being the place to go for a pleasant surprise.
