Swiss Re unterstützt das Zürcher Theater Spektakel bei der Umsetzung der Klimaneutralität
In den letzten Jahrzehnten hat die globale Erwärmung nachweislich zugenommen. Es ist unbestritten, dass menschliche Aktivitäten diese massgeblich beeinflusst haben. Um dem Klimawandel entgegen zu wirken, müssen der Ausstoss von Treibhausgasen und insbesondere der CO2-Ausstoss aus der Nutzung fossiler Energien global reduziert werden. Zusätzlich zur Reduktion des Ausstosses von Treibhausgasen sind Kompensationsprojekte wirkungsvolle Massnahmen im Kampf gegen den Klimawandel. Ein Beispiel eines solches Projektes, die mehrheitlich in Schwellenländern umgesetzt werden, ist der Bau einer Windanlage anstelle eines Kohlekraftwerks. Die Neutralisierung von CO2-Emissionen ist global gesehen ein sehr effizientes Mittel zur Verhinderung eines Anstieges des Emissionsniveaus.
Swiss Re verfügt über langjährige Erfahrung im Umgang mit Klimafragen und unterstützt das Zürcher Theater Spektakel bei der Umsetzung der Klimaneutralität.
Das Zürcher Theater Spektakel nimmt die Dringlichkeit der Thematik ernst und handelt. Aufgrund der gemeinsamen Initiative von Swiss Re und ZKB hat sich das Zürcher Theater Spektakel entschieden, ab 2008 klimaneutral zu werden. Im Vorfeld wurden Prozesse überprüft, um Emissionen zu reduzieren. Die Emissionen, die nicht reduziert werden können, werden mittels Emmissionszertifikaten kompensiert. Swiss Re beschafft diese und stellt sicher, dass die finanziellen Mittel in geeignete Projekte fliessen.

Unorthodox and intelligent, direct and moving, critical and above all passionate performances. There’s a lot going on, behind, on and in front of the stage. Something that is particularly noteworthy is that this year’s Theater Spektakel will be a CO2 neutral event, so ambitious entertainment and social responsibility will be working hand in hand and harmoniously together. This sends an important message, represents a conscious contribution and is another good reason why Swiss Re is proud to be one of the three key sponsors supporting the festival.

Swiss Re supports the Zurich Theater Spektakel in its ambitions to be carbon neutral
Over recent decades, global warming has clearly intensified; that human activity has had a massive influence on this is beyond dispute. Greenhouse gas emissions and in particular CO2 emissions resulting from the use of fossil fuels must be reduced on a global scale if climate change is to be combated. Alongside the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, compensation projects are an effective tool in the fight against climate change. One example of such a project, which has been implemented in the majority of emerging markets, is the construction of wind facilities instead of coal-fired power stations. As a global concept, the neutralisation of CO2 emissions is a highly efficient way of minimising the growth of overall emissions.
Swiss Re has many years’ experience in relation to climate matters and is supporting the Zurich Theater Spektakel in its ambitions to be carbon neutral.
The Zurich Theater Spektakel takes the urgency of this matter seriously and is taking action. A joint initiative by Swiss Re and ZKB has prompted the Zurich Theater Spektakel to go carbon neutral from 2008 onwards. During the run-up, processes are being tested to reduce emissions. Emissions which cannot be reduced will be compensated for using emissions certificates. Swiss Re will provide these and will ensure that finances go into suitable projects.
