2008 Corporate Responsibility Report

As part of our long-standing commitment to corporate responsibility, we publish a corresponding account on a yearly basis. The 2008 edition of our Corporate Responsibility Report once again presents a comprehensive review of our efforts.

Tangible achievements

The difficult market environment of 2008 not withstanding, we were able to record some important achievements with regard to corporate responsibility. These are some highlights:

Development of several innovative risk transfer solutions for emerging markets, based on different forms of public-private partnerships
Obtaining a mandate to manage a post-2012 Carbon Credit Fund on behalf of the European Investment Bank
Further progress in reducing our per-capita CO₂ emissions, mainly due to a further increase in using energy from renewable sources, especially in the US
Successful completion of the second year in our CO_You2 Reduce and Gain Programme
Launch of new risk education projects in Latin America supporting efforts to help prevent humanitarian disasters
Promotion of the country risk management concept, eg through a new Focus report.

In addition, the report contains an independent assurance report on our CO₂ emissions, a content index in line with the Global Reporting Initiative, an overview of important memberships, awards and index listings, as well as a selection of other relevant publications.
