Swiss Re named one of Australia's Best Employers for second year running
09 September 2005, Sydney
Swiss Re has once again been named as one of Australia and New Zealand's Best Employers by a study conducted by Hewitt Associates (Hewitt), in partnership with the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) and AFR BOSS magazine.
The study, in its fifth year, covered 160 organisations and 40,000 employees across the region.
It aims to better understand the link between people practices and business performance in companies. It also provides insights into how organisations can achieve real competitive advantage through people and identifies a shortlist of Best Employers to Work for in Australia and New Zealand.
'As part of our strategy to be an employer of choice, Swiss Re has participated in the study since 2003. We were named as a Best Employer in 2004 and this year Swiss Re was awarded a 'Special Commendation for Consistent Improvement'. So it is very encouraging to see we are improving on things and getting it right,' said Kerry Baxter, Head of Human Resources, Australia and New Zealand.
'The insurance industry has traditionally struggled to attract and retain top new talent. It is not generally seen as an 'exciting' employment prospect. We hope we can dispell some of the old myths about the industry through this achievement and create an awareness that reinsurers are employers of choice,' said Mrs Baxter.
