Flood resilience in Italy: Acting together
The frequency and severity of flood-related natural disasters in Italy have increased over the last decade. While this fact should have been a wake-up call for a country exposed to natural hazards and with the world’s seventh largest economy, insurance penetration has remained low. Despite the pronounced frequency of natural disasters, the protection gap – the difference between economic and insured losses – goes on widening.
