Swiss Re Corporate Solutions sowing seeds at Global Grain 2011
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' Agri Corporate Business team attended the annual 3-day conference from November 15-17 to promote risk transfer solutions for agriculture corporations. The 9th annual Global Grain Conference took place in Geneva, the prime location for the leading trading companies in grain, oilseeds, soft commodities and energy markets. Global Grain, known as the world's premier trading event in the grain calendar, attracted over 900 delegates from 50 countries.
Bernard Belk, Global Head Agri Corporate Business commented, "We've been attending the Global Grain conference for three years. It is an excellent opportunity to network with clients and various stakeholders across agricultural supply chain, from input suppliers to commodities processors".
The conference brings together producers, traders and consumers of grains and oilseeds mainly throughout the Mediterranean, Middle‐Eastern, South America, Eastern Europe and African markets.
Swiss Re agricultural solutions include innovative crop-shortfall cover, weather-based index covers and structured price hedges which mitigate the financial impact of lower than expected raw material production. The solutions are tailored to the needs of the various stakeholders across the agricultural supply chain, from input suppliers to commodities processors.
Presentations during the conference covered topics such as the world grain outlook for 2012, market and trade developments and influences on the grain market. Swiss Re Corporate Solutions were a headline sponsor and co-hosted a champagne brunch on the final day of the conference.
