Swiss Re Corporate Solutions brings complete P&C insurance offerings to 2010 NAPSLO convention
With the official introduction of the E&S Property unit, the Swiss Re team attending the annual convention of the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices (NAPSLO) on 11-14 October in Atlanta was able to bring -- for the first time -- both its property and casualty E&S insurance offerings under one roof. As the key US trade association representing the surplus lines industry, this year's gathering brought together more than 3,100 leading brokers and carriers.
While Swiss Re's E&S Casualty team has been a fixture at NAPSLO, typically engaged in a marathon session of 100+ broker meetings in three days, this year's event was marked by the formal arrival of Swiss Re's E&S Property team. Swiss Re Corporate Solutions added this unit to its E&S offering in late 2009 and has been actively writing business with several select appointed brokers throughout 2010. By offering both property and casualty solutions in the E&S market, Swiss Re has raised its profile in this important market segment
"NAPSLO was an important conference for us," said John Prange, Head of Swiss Re's E&S Property unit. "Our seasoned team of underwriters was able to spend significant time with current and prospective production sources. Due to market conditions, we aren't rapidly expanding our production sources, but instead we are building on existing relationships and setting a strong foundation to grow with the market cycle."
The E&S Casualty team continued its strong run at NAPSLO by bringing nine underwriters and approximately 200 years of combined experience to the convention.
"I was very happy with the results of NAPSLO this year" indicated Brian Evans, Head of E&S Casualty. "We had a number of good, productive meetings with senior management from all our key producers. Despite an overall tough market, we continue to find solutions to our customers' biggest problems. "
In addition to attending the broker meetings at NAPSLO, the Swiss Re team developed a strong external presence at the event by promoting its capabilities on the Swiss Re Public Website [Linkto: www.swissre.com/insurance], as well as in several insurance publications in and around the conference. Insurance-related ads ran in key trade publications, such as National Underwriter, Risk & Insurance, Risk Management, Leaders Edge, Independent Agent, Best Review, and Business Insurance.
As in past years, to show its appreciation to brokers and carriers for their business, Swiss Re also organized an opening night cocktail party and tour of the historic Fox Theater. With both casualty and property offerings now available to wholesale brokers, the curtain has gone up for Swiss Re's E&S business units.
