Swiss Re hosts the first Knowledge Seminar of 2010

The Zurich-based Property & Casualty teams of Swiss Re’s Insurance & Specialty Americas hosted over two dozen clients and brokers at a Knowledge Seminar and reception on 10 May at the Apex City of London Hotel.

The London Knowledge Seminar kicked off a series of similar events the I&S team will hold worldwide in several locations in 2010. These knowledge seminars provide our clients and brokers with an opportunity to hear from Swiss Re’s industry experts on relevant topics currently facing the insurance industry.

Daniel Vetter, Head of North America Casualty, welcomed attendees to the second annual London Knowledge Seminar and thanked them for their continued support of Swiss Re. Prior to introducing the featured speaker, Mr. Vetter provided guests with an overview of Swiss Re’s first quarter results.

Emerging Risks

The featured presentation, “Emerging Risks: News and Implications for the Insurance Business,” was presented by Martin Weymann, Swiss Re’s Senior Risk Manager of Sustainability & Emerging Risk Management. Mr. Weymann discussed risk perception from numerous angles and how potential threats have evolved over the years into recognizable “risks” that are addressed by insurance companies today.

“Every day, new Risks develop and they are affecting not only the way we live, but the way we do business,” said Mr. Vetter. “I believe this presentation gave people a new perspective on how Swiss Re continues to be at the forefront of following the continously evolving and developing risk landscape worldwide.”

The event closed with a reception that allowed clients, brokers and Swiss Re personnel to network.
