Swiss Re named China Reinsurer of the Year

For the third year in a row, Swiss Re has won the China Reinsurer of the Year Award.

The award is part of the "Focus of Insurance Awards,” run by China Insurance Marketing, a leading and highly respected trade publication in China. This is the third time Swiss Re has won in this category since 2010, the first year the prize was awarded.

Robert Wiest, Swiss Re President for China, said, "This is a strong recognition from the market on what we have achieved in China. This is also great encouragement for us to continue our efforts and to do an even better job in 2013."

On behalf of Swiss Re, Qin Lu, Swiss Re Beijing Branch General Manager, received the award from a member of the judging panel, Wen Wang, Dean of the Insurance School of the University of International Business and Economics, at the award ceremony on 17 January in Beijing.

When announcing the decision, the judging panel highlighted the fact that Swiss Re made important contributions to the development of the insurance industry in China through good efforts in the following three areas:

• Leveraging international experience to best meet the needs of insurers in China in the lines of motor, liability, engineering and agriculture, as well as in the health insurance sector

• Contributing to the natural catastrophe risk management by enhancing its CatNet® tool with Global Flood Zones™

• Participating actively in the discussion of the new solvency regime

Same as in previous years, Swiss Re also sponsored the Corporate Social Responsibility Award.
