At Swiss Re we believe career development is a shared responsibility between the employee, line manager and the company. A career in our dynamic and global work environment is much more than hierarchical progress, it means life-long learning.

Personal and professional development at Swiss Re combines technical, professional and leadership skills training. Our training programmes are designed and delivered internally through our Swiss Re Academy in collaboration with external partners. What's more, since 2011 Swiss Re Academy holds the CLIP accreditation from the European Foundation of Management Development (EFMD) in recognition of its high-quality standard in supporting employees' professional development. 

Swiss Re is one of the leading insurance training providers and offers also training sessions for our customers.

Learning paths

The majority of courses are structured as “learning paths,” which consist of different modules to ensure sustainable development over time and enable effective transfer of new knowledge and skills into the daily work life.

Employees and line managers have the opportunity to attend courses in such areas as Underwriting/Reinsurance, Swiss Re’s Business, Interpersonal Skills, Project Management, Office Tools, Language Training, Line Manager Core Training, Diversity & Inclusion as well as Compliance Training.

Leadership and managerial skills

The top management roles at Swiss Re require proven leadership and managerial skills as well as strong technical knowledge. We therefore deliver tightly focused programmes to develop candidates for positions at the Director and Managing Director levels. Every year we select a number of employees around the globe to take part in these programmes on an annual basis and prepare them with structured and accelerated development offerings for more senior roles within Swiss Re.
