Meet our graduates

Business Development Manager

Philipp Luerzer

What I like best about the programme is the practical learning approach and how international it is. Several times a year, graduates from across the globe meet in Zurich to learn together with our experts about reinsurance in workshops and projects. I was also able to get to know Swiss Re as a world-class reinsurer through job rotations into different teams. These rotations allowed me to work with our clients on-site and took me to places, such as London, Zurich and Cape Town.

Junior Propositions Manager

Poppy Girdlestone

I joined Swiss Re through the graduates@swissre programme in September 2013. I'm truly grateful for all of the opportunities this 18 month programme has given me, which included training in Zurich and a job rotation within the organisation. My journey so far has exceeded my expectations by exposing me to various aspects of the Life & Health business, with a recent focus on product development and innovation. I look forward to the next chapter of my career at Swiss Re.

Property Treaty Underwriter

Abderrahim Elamrani

Since joining Swiss Re through the graduate@swissre programme I've worked in 3 different locations. Today I enjoy a job where I assess houses, shops and industries in France against catastrophes together with many different insurers. I value Swiss Re for having both a strong local presence and also being a genuine international company where I interact regularly with my colleagues abroad.

Associate Economist

Finn Krueger

I joined Swiss Re Economic Research & Consulting (ER&C) in September 2013 after finishing my degree in Economics at the University of St Gallen. I had prior experience in economic research and wanted to continue my career in this field. Within ER&C, I cover macroeconomic developments in several Western European countries and forecast a variety of indicators, which form the basis for insurance market predictions. Working with the team to produce expertise papers and Swiss Re's flagship sigma reports is challenging and highly rewarding. My daily work involves working with colleagues around the globe, meaning that I benefit from the breadth of experience, expertise and knowledge that Swiss Re has at its disposal.

Associate, Group Risk Management

Shreya Rawlley

It comes straight from my heart when I say that this programme changed my life for the better! My technical and soft skills improved considerably after attending the Zurich training sessions. The exciting programme structure allowed me to work on unconventional themes like innovation and big data, while simultaneously honing my job skills. The cherry on the cake was the opportunity to meet very bright people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. I'll always feel indebted to this programme and the people behind it.

Engineering Underwriter

Eric Yao

I joined the graduate@swissre programme in 2013 as an Engineering Underwriter. The programme gave me a good understanding of reinsurance, and the rotations exposed me to different teams, locations and functions within Swiss Re. In the Engineering Underwriting team, I have opportunities to learn about both treaty and facultative business. Every day is different because I need to evaluate different risks. It's been a motivating and unforgettable experience so far.
