Apprenticeship

During their time at Swiss Re, apprentices are supported and monitored on a day-to-day basis by qualified professionals - the vocational trainers. These individuals are committed and consistently dedicated to supporting and challenging the young people in their development.

In addition to lessons at the vocational school and industry-wide courses provided by the associations, Swiss Re organises internal workshops for the apprentices in order to support them in their development. Topics include:

  • Work and study techniques
  • Business etiquette
  • Presentation techniques
  • Motivation - the magic word
  • IT courses
  • Introduction to insurance
  • Review – outlook – assessment of the apprentice's progress
  • How to write a successful application

Apprentices also have the opportunity to improve their knowledge of subjects such as risk, interaction with different cultures, addiction, art, etc. during the annual project days.

Swiss Re assists apprentices in their academic studies by making a financial contribution to school books, any remedial courses, language stays organised by the school and project weeks and excursions.

Swiss Re also supports apprentices focusing on business administration, IT and mediamatics with a language stay in England, if the apprentices have not already taken part in the school language stays.

Traineeship

During their time at Swiss Re, trainees are supported and monitored on a day-to-day basis by trained and qualified professionals - the vocational trainers. These individuals are committed and consistently dedicated to supporting and challenging the young people in their development.

Like all Swiss Re employees, trainees can take part in training courses offered by the Swiss Re Academy. In addition, the following internal workshops are organised, which are aimed at making it easier for trainees to enter the world of work:

  • Work and study techniques
  • Business etiquette
  • Motivation - the magic word
  • IT courses
  • Dealing with difficult situations
  • How to write a good application

Trainees also have the opportunity to get to know each other and expand their network of contacts at various events organised for their benefit.
