Darryl, who also hails from Australia, transfers to Seoul from Hong Kong where he and his family have lived since January 2005, and where Darryl was responsible for Property & Casualty as well as Life & Health business for the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan markets.
"I have already met some of our clients in Korea and I am excited to be finally making the move to Seoul. From my perspective, Korea is one of Asia’s most fascinating business environments and richest cultures and I have already experienced how proud everyone is of their country. Korea is already a very advanced market and has many new opportunities to grow and develop further which excites me to be part of this market," said Darryl, who transferred to Swiss Re Asia's regional headquarters in Hong Kong initially as Client Development Officer focusing on strategic opportunities with Swiss Re's key Asia-Pacific clients.
"I am fortunate to inherit a great team from Mark and I look forward to helping them to help our clients grow their businesses not only in Korea but internationally. I have already participated in a number of discussions with our clients not only in relation to the domestic business but their plans to expand offshore. The challenge I have set myself is to ensure I integrate into the Korean business environment and culture but also to ensure we continue to support our clients within Korea and also as they expand elsewhere" said Darryl.
Darryl originally joined Swiss Re Australia in February 1999 responsible for credit and financial risk business in Australia and New Zealand. In 2001, Darryl became a member of Swiss Re's Asian-based Risk Structuring team which provided direct support to Asia-Pacific clients for capital, balance sheet and financial risk management solutions. He moved from that to client management in 2003, focusing on Australian corporate clients as well as taking responsibility for government related business in Australia before eventually moving to Hong Kong.
Before he joined Swiss Re, Darryl spent eight years in various corporate and investment banking positions at Australia and New Zealand Banking Group in Australia.
Darryl is a Certified Practising Accountant of Australia, and has completed Master degrees in Business from the University of Technology, Sydney specialising in Accounting and Finance.
In his spare time, Darryl spends his time taking care of his family as he has 3 very energetic young boys, Liam, Connor and Sebastian and his wife, Maxine. He has a great passion for football and admittedly has become a Korean fan during the recent World Cup. Darryl's family will move to Seoul in August and look forward to the new experience having spent the last 5 years in Hong Kong.
