Swiss Re named “Manager of the Year” by Trading Risk for ILS transactions
Trading Risk held its inaugural awards event on 25 June 2009, welcoming executives representing the spectrum of the global (re)insurance convergence industry.
The event commenced with a networking cocktail hour and culminated with the announcement of winners of various categories.
Swiss Re Capital Markets was honored as “Manager of the Year” for three notable 2008 transactions: Vega Capital Ltd. Series 2008, Mangrove Re Ltd. and Valais Re Ltd. The innovations within these three transactions have broadened the ILS sector’s toolkit and will spur further growth of the ILS market both from the sponsor and investor perspective.
The Swiss Re team was also a finalist for the “Derivative Initiative of the Year” category.
Over the course of the last decade, Swiss Re Capital Markets has been fundamental in the development of the ILS market and is the leading investment bank in this sector. Swiss Re has structured and distributed 76 of approximately 158 catastrophe bonds in the ILS market, growing the ILS investor base and providing cutting edge expertise and execution to Swiss Re and our insurance clients. The team has consistently driven innovation in the sector, bringing a number of landmark transactions to market including the original hybrid trigger and the Modeled Industry Transaction Trigger (or MITT), first used in the Calabash transaction in 2006.
