Swiss Re wins China Reinsurer of the Year

Swiss Re has won the inaugural China Reinsurer of the Year Award 2010 for promoting public private partnership with innovative solutions for tackling natural catastrophe risks in China.

Robert Wiest, Swiss Re China Head, said, "We are delighted to win the award, which is a strong recognition of our services, solutions, expertise and commitment."

Qin Lu, Swiss Re Beijing Branch General Manager received the award on behalf of Swiss Re at the award ceremony on 4 March in Beijing.

The award is part of the "Focus of Insurance Award 2010", which is run by China Insurance Marketing, a leading and highly respected insurance magazine in China. The judging panel, which is composed of 12 insurance professors from leading universities in China, made the decision based on research and analysis.

This is the first time the Focus on Insurance Award has covered reinsurance since its inception in 2006. And Swiss Re is proud to be the first reinsurer to receive the accolade.

Looking ahead, Robert Wiest said, "We are proud of what we have achieved. But we have no reason to sit on the success. With the strong growth of the insurance sector in China, we will continue to work closely with our clients to jointly grasp the growing opportunities."

Swiss Re also sponsored the Corporate Social Responsibility Award.  More stories (in Chinese only) of the "Focus of Insurance Award 2010" can be found on, a leading news portal in China, and, a top financial news portal in China later this week.
