According to the Corporate Bylaws, the Executive Committee may form Group committees and delegate authorities and responsibilities to them. The committees are essential steering instruments to ensure a group-wide, consistent approach in their respective areas. Each Group committee is chaired by a member of the Executive Board.
The Group Products and Limits Committee (GPLC) determines the Group's product policy, secures the Group-wide application of uniform risk underwriting standards, grants underwriting limits and decides on large and unusual transactions.
The Group Risk and Capital Committee (GRCC) decides on the Group’s risk and capital strategy (including balance sheet management activities) and on the risk governance framework. This includes approving changes to the internal capital adequacy and economic performance measurement frameworks.
The Group Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) oversees the management of Swiss Re’s balance sheet, specifically its liquidity, capital, and funding positions and related policies.
The Group Regulatory Committee (GRC) coordinates regulatory matters in Swiss Re Group, steers main activities and initiatives with regard to regulatory affairs and decides on policy statements with the purpose of influencing the regulatory environment of Swiss Re. The committee enables corporate management to anticipate regulatory developments in order to adjust strategic and operational decisions and to exploit business opportunities.
